Sasha Bonafede Chhabra (陳博樂) is an internationally recognized expert on Chinese foreign policy, Taiwanese politics, and human rights. He has lived, worked, and studied in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, and holds degrees from the University of Chicago, Columbia University, and the London School of Economics.

He is based in Taipei and publishes the newsletter Formosa Review, writing on a range of Taiwanese political and geopolitical issues. He has held fellowships at Taiwan’s Institute for National Defense and Security Research under the Ministry of National Defense, the Taiwan Center for Security Studies at National Chengchi University, and the Global Taiwan Institute. He is a regular participant in international war games on Taiwan, and frequently lectures at universities in Taiwan and around the world on Taiwan’s security position, foreign policy, and history.

As a political analyst and commentator, he writes for a variety of publications, and his research and commentary is frequently cited by international media.

With extensive non-profit management experience, Sasha advises and consults for NGOs and human rights organizations. He has also consulted for and advised media organizations and political campaigns on messaging and strategies for countering China’s influence.

Sasha is proficient in English, Mandarin Chinese, Italian, French, Spanish, and Portuguese. He is also conversational in Uyghur.
